Just got back from a great trip to Havasu with a great bunch of guys.  We fished Friday and Saturday and the weather was perfect for bed fishing for the most part.  The wind came up Sat afternoon and put the fishing off but not a bad two days for Havasu.

This was the first time anyone had caught fish off beds and all agreed it was an exciting way to catch fish.  It is really cool to see how each fish reacts to the fly as it placed in it’s bed.  Some just pounce on it and others swim away only to be lured back by that annoying fly still lying there in its bedroom.  They can’t stand it and eventually charge it to get rid of it.   Bam!….fish on. 

As you can see there was no shortage of fish to play with.  We timed it just right.  The smallies had just started to come up and hadn’t had too much pressure on them yet.  There are more coming up every day so the fishing should be good for awhile yet.  We saw a surprising amount of nice largemouth on beds as well but they weren’t as locked on and didn’t want to play that much.  Another week or two and it’s gonna be crazy.
