
We are excited to have added many new schools for 2010. Our instructors are guides, licensed by the State of Arizona and hold special use permits from the Tonto National Forest. From beginner to intermediate we have a class just for you. We also provide private casting lessons. We have taught hundreds the joy of Fly Fishing.
Introduction to Fly Fishing at Saguaro Lake

This 4 hour class takes much of the guess work out of getting into the sport of Fly Fishing. We hold this class at the Butcher Jones access of Saguaro Lake. There is a large beach there for casting and some picnic tables we use for our discussions. The first 2 hours is spent discussing rods, reels, fly lines, knots and bugs 101. The 3rd hour is dedicated to learning the basics of the cast. The final hour is spent learning how to present and retrieve your flies effectively in the lake. Our instructors have taught hundreds of people over the years and are dedicated to getting people of all ages and abilities into our sport. This 4 hour class is $125 per person. Rods and Reels can be provided for no additional cost. We will be offering this class monthly, except for summer when we move our schools to X-Diamond Ranch. Intermediate Fly Fishing Tactics at the Salt River

This 4 hour class is for intermediate anglers wanting to improve their skills on the river or those who have taken our introduction class and wants to get to the next level. We spend the first hour discussing rigging, teaching the essentials on all rigs we may use in a river, from indicator to streamer. The 2nd hour is dedicated to improving your casting in a river, roll casts to water loading to the double haul are all covered. The 3rd hour is dedicated to presentation, from mending to drag free drift to streamer fishing. The final hour we cover how to read the water and how to attack your favorite stream. Waders are needed and are not provided for this class. We can provide rod and reel if necessary. This class cost $125 per person. Click here to book this class.
Introduction to Fly Fishing at X-Diamond Ranch

If you want some more in depth learning in a tranquil mountain setting then check out our 1 1/2 day long X-Diamond Raanch Schools. These schools start on a Saturday morning and from 8-noon we discuss everything from rods, reels, fly lines, knots, and bugs 101. After lunch we head out to the private stocked ponds at X-Diamond Ranch to work on our basic casting, maybe even catching a couple of fish. The second day from 8-noon is dedicated to learning how to fish streams, using the Little Colorado River as our training grounds, which also runs through the property. We will get you to the point that you can head out and catch fish on your own by the end of the weekend. You can book these schools with or without lodging. The lodging is at X-Diamond Ranch and is for 2 nights, Friday and Saturday night. You can also stay in nearby Greer or Springerville and drive in each day for the class. Youth Fly Fishing Camp at X-Diamond Ranch
We are pleased to offer a Fly Fishing camp for youth ages 14-17 years old. This camp will be for 3 nights and 3 full days. We welcome all levels from beginners to experienced anglers. Arrive and check in by noon on day 1. Day 1 activities include casting instruction and fishing on the private ponds at X-Diamond as well as some basic fly tying after dinner. After breakfast on Day 2, we will begin discussing gear, knots and bugs 101. After lunch we will be heading back out to the pond to identify bugs, work on casting and catch a few fish in the ponds. In the evening we will be tying more flies. Day 3 is dedicated to the stream fishing. We will spend all day working on tactics for catching fish in streams. On Day 4 we will finish up with some casting games and have an award ceremony for the campers and parents. We will have several of the top experts in the state as counselors and others that will be stopping by to teach their specialties. Our focus is first and foremost to have fun, but also to emphasize the importance of respecting the environments we fish in. We will also cover fish handling and proper catch and release techniques. All of the campers will be housed in 2 cabins on the property and we will have a 2:1 student to teacher ratio. We are also looking for a parent of a camper for each cabin to help us chaperon and prepare meals, please contact us if you are interested in chaperoning we will be offering a discount off your child’s camp. We are very excited to offer this chance to our youth. We strongly believe in getting young people involved our sport and are proud to be the first in the state to offer this great program.
